Old Capitol Kiwanis presents checks to local organizations - 09/23/2016

Each year Old Capitol Kiwanis invites organizations that serve people that are insecure.  This year we presented 8 organizations checks in the amount of $400. From left to right we presented checks to: Bob Andrlik from Table to Table, Lt Tim North from The Salvation Army, Crissy Canganelli from the Shelter House, Kaila Rome from the North Liberty Food Pantry, Missy Forbes from DVIP, John Boller from the Coralville Ecumenical Food Pantry, Ronda Lipsius from the Iowa City Free Lunch Program, Becci Reedus the Crisis Center, and Rev. Barrie Tritle President of Iowa City Old Capitol.


Old Capitol and Iowa City Noon Club Sponsor Camperships - 06/19/2015

Old Capitol Kiwanis Awards Scholarships - 05/14/2015

The Scholarship Committee presented $1000 scholarships at the May 14th meeting to the following students (front row):  Micah Otterbein (West High); Jacqueline Rapp (Regina); Rebecca Anne Storey (City High); and Taylor Majher, Circle K.
 

Kiwanis Celebrates 100 Year Anniversary - 05/13/2015

Kiwanis International Vice President Jane Erickson spoke at the 100th Anniversary celebration at the Holiday Inn in Coralville on May 13th.


OCK Helps Build A Playground at the ARC of Johnson County - 04/10/2015

26 - 4 Hour Shifts were provided by Old Capitol Kiwanis to help build a playground at the Arc of Johnson County.  The first of it's kind will assist individuals with mobility issues have fun and enjoy a learning experience at this new playground. Once again Old Capitol of Iowa City serves the youth of our community.

 


Santa visits the club today - 12/18/2014

Santa came to visit the club today and told us that he thought we all had been good people this year.  Even though the picture looks like Jim Dane is bribing Santa he is actually putting his bragging money in the pig.  

We all know that Santa can't be bribed!


Old Capitol helps feed the Hungry - 11/21/2014

Iowa City Old Capitol Kiwanis recently provided “Feed-the Hungry” donations in the amount of $370.00 to each of these organizations serving Johnson County. Old Capitol presents $1,000 to the pARC - 07/03/2014

The Iowa City Old Capitol Kiwanis Group presented $1,000 to the ARC's pArk which will be a special playground and garden for physically challenged adults.  Picture is Kent Jehle presenting our check to the ARC's Director Karen DeGroot for this project in the amount of $1,000.


Old Capitol Kiwanis Gives Zeller To Sam - 06/28/2014

Three members of Iowa City Old Capitol Kiwanis recently traveled to Audubon, Iowa to present long time member The Rev. Samuel J. Hahn with an honorary “Zeller Award.” The award was based on an anonymous contribution of $1250 to the Kiwanis International Foundation’s program to eliminate maternal neo-natal tetenus, a disease prevalent in various underdeveloped parts of the world. The disease is conveyed to infants at birth through the umbilical cord and nearly always results in a very painful death. Old Capitol Kiwanis Gives Money to Pediatric Chaplain Endowment Fund - 06/13/2014

Each year Iowa City Old Capitol Kiwanis holds a prayer breakfast on Good Friday.  This year was no exception.  Pictured is Fred Schieber presenting to Phil Holland a check for over $20,000 toward this worthwhile project.
